Laser Surgery

Using a surgical laser instead of a traditional scalpel blade to cut tissues offers several advantages. First of all, the laser vaporizes cells so it seals blood vessels and nerve endings as it cuts. This results in significantly less pain and bleeding at the surgical site. This also results in significantly less swelling of the surgical site and incisions tend to heal more quickly. At Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic we have found the most dramatic improvements in using the laser when performing declaw procedures on cats….there is significantly less bleeding, the cats seem to be much more comfortable and return to normal activity much more quickly.
