Yesterday, Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic got a major upgrade to our “In House Lab” equipment! This means we will have more comprehensive and accurate results for our patients faster than ever before! Our Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Tara said “It feels like Christmas!”
The new equipment includes:
1) Procyte – A state of the art blood analyzer which gives us unparalleled information about the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets in our patients
2) Sediview – An exciting new technology that uses a ‘Facial Recognition’ type software to identify normal and abnormal cells, crystals and bacteria in urine samples
3) SNAP Reader – An improved way to read and record tests for diseases such as Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, Lyme Disease, Heartworm, Pancreatitis and more! New tests using this technology are being developed all of the time.
It took Idexx Laboratories Technician, Allie, from Toronto, a few hours to sort through ALL of the boxes, get the equipment installed and connected to both our practice network and the lab in Toronto and to run quality controls to make sure everything is working properly. Then she trained us on using the new equipment. Hudson even got in on the action by providing a urine sample to analyze 😉
