Happy Thanksgiving! But No Turkey Dinner For Your Pets!!

On behalf of the entire team at Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic,  Hudson and Delilah wish you and your four-legged friends and family a very ‘Happy Thanksgiving’!  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Sault Ste. Marie Clinic to provide medical care and advice for your cherished pets – we know they are a very important part of your family and we appreciate your trust.

Over the weekend, many of us will indulge in large amounts of delicious, soul satisfying food and it’s not surprising if you are tempted to share some of your bounty with the furry members of the family. In fact, they are probably practicing their ‘Puppy Dog Eyes’ as we speak! PLEASE RESIST THE TEMPTATION!!

Table food – whether given intentionally or the pet helps themselves – can cause significant problems for your pet.
• Some might just experience mild stomach upset and discomfort
• Some pets may develop vomiting and diarrhea – ranging from mild to severe
• Some pets may develop a painful and potentially life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas call pancreatitis
• Some pets can develop obstructions of blockages from bones, corn cobs, strings and plastic wrappers

It’s just not worth the risk! Please stick to giving them their regular food, a regular pet treat or even just some extra pats and affection instead.
Also, please be extra vigilant about keeping food, leftovers, turkey carcasses and garbage well out of your pet’s reach – we want you to enjoy Thanksgiving at home with your pet – not making a trip to see the Emergency Vet!

We will be back in the office Tuesday morning at 8:00.

Have a great weekend!
