Wait…I thought you said ‘Tutored’!!

Hudson (Dr. Palmer & Dr. Lewis-Palmer’s Portuguese Water Dog) will undergo a neuter procedure (Orchiectomy or surgical removal of the testicles) this morning.  This will remove the source of testosterone for Hudson and provide many health and behavioural benefits such as reduced aggression towards other male dogs, reduced searching for females in heat, reduced marking behaviour and a reduced risk of certain types of cancer.  Neutering will NOT make Hudson fat and lazy but it will make him a happier and healthier pet!

Like all dogs being neutered at Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic, Hudson will enjoy the advantages of a surgical laser over a traditional scalpel.  Click here for more information about the benefits surgical laser.  He will also receive ample pain control medication to minimize any potential discomfort.

To make sure Hudson is a good candidate for general anesthesia and surgery, pre-anesthetic blood work was performed recently and the results are perfectly normal.  He will also have a microchip implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades so that he will have permanent identification should he ever become lost or separated from us.
