This is Watson, an adorable 12 wk old Standard Poodle puppy that we had the pleasure of meeting last week. As a Standard Poodle puppy, Watson already weighs 12 lbs and as a male could end up weighing as much as 60-70lbs as an adult. Originally bred as hunting dogs, poodles are known for being intelligent, athletic and non-shedding.
Watson and his family are from Ohio but spend the summers here in Northern Ontario.
At Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic, we have many clients and patients who spend the cold winter months in the warmth and sunshine of the southern states. On the other hand, we also see the opposite – American clients and patients who come north to enjoy Northern Ontario’s spectacular beauty and agreeable summers. If the first group are routinely called “Snowbirds” what are the second group – the ones who travel north for the summer – called?
