It is with mixed emotions we wish our Clinic Cat Oscar a Happy Retirement.
He has been a part of our team since he came to us in 2011 – a tiny 8 wk old kitten with a broken leg who had been found by a city garbage truck driver – hence the name Oscar. As well as the broken leg, he suffered nerve damage and spent the first several months with us dragging his back foot – he even had to wear a sock on it to keep it from getting abraded.
While we originally intended to ‘fix him and find him a home’, by the time the broken bone healed and he recovered from the nerve damage, he had won a permanent place in our hearts – so he became a ‘Clinic Cat’.
Over the years, Oscar has taken his job as Clinic Cat very seriously. He likes to oversee everything (often from the clinic bathtub), meet and greet clients and patients, check in on hospitalized pets and of course he is always ready to ‘help with the dishes’ by cleaning up any leftover food.
Recently, we have noticed that his age and previous injuries are starting to catch up with him. Medications and monthly Solensia injections help but Cindy wants to give him the chance to become a pampered house cat. This is great news for Oscar!! Cindy is his most favourite person in the whole wide world, and we are delighted she wants to help him make the most of his golden years.
We will miss his integral presence in our daily routines, his funny little habits, and his impeccable sense of timing – in Oscar’s mind, we should drop EVERYTHING when it’s mealtime – but we know he is going to be very, very happy in his new home with Cindy.
Happy trails Oscar!! We hope you come back to visit often
