In honour of what would have been the beloved star and vocal animal advocate’s 100th birthday, on January 17th 2022 (that’s today!!), fans are being asked to make a donation to their local animal shelter in her memory. It doesn’t have to be a large amount, even $5.00 would be appreciated, but if enough people join in, it could make a huge difference for local animals in need. What a wonderful tribute to an extraordinary lady.
Recently, the team at Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic was surprised and delighted to find out we had been nominated for and awarded $2500.00 from Northside Mazda as part of Mazda Canada’s ‘Local Legends’ program. The Mazda Local Legends program helps restore community spirit by supporting and rebuilding small businesses across Canada that have been affected by the pandemic. We feel truly honoured to be recognized and want to pay our good fortune forward by giving the money to two worthy organizations we know firsthand work tirelessly to help local pets in need – the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society and Northern Critters in Need.
We couldn’t think of a better time to present our check for $2000.00 to the shelter than on Betty White’s Birthday 😊 We also donated $500.00 to Norther Critters In Need 🐾 (Pictured: Dr. Gary Palmer and Dr. Robin Lewis-Palmer of Sault Ste. P.S. The local shelter currently has a LOT of beautiful, adoptable pets looking for their happily ever after – especially cats! If you are thinking of welcoming another pet into your home, now might be a great time to do so – if it happens to be a female, you could even call her Betty 😁
